EMPIRES AND COLONIALISM IN THE 19th CENTURY

Imperialism is the policy of extending a country's domination over other regions. The conquering country is called the mother country and the territories it acquires are its colonies. 

The main empires are: British empire and the French empire. Other empires are Russian empire, American empire, German empire, Italian empire, Portuguese empire, Spanish empire, Belgian empire and the Japanese empire.
